Greetings, and welcome to my new website. There is much excitement in the air anticipating the election of an historic new team – Barack Obama and Joe Biden. These last eight years of George Bush and his destructive leadership have left Americans broke and sick. Broke, because of a commitment to an unjust war that has cost over 4,000 of our brave soldiers their lives, in addition to those who have returned home injured and ill from invisible wounds. And broke because the current national debt is well into the trillions of dollars. Sick, because hundreds of thousands throughout the country do not have health insurance, and have no prospect of paying for necessary medical care.
Change couldn’t come too soon.
I notice the excitement everywhere I go. I’m seeing a bumper crop of yard signs. In grocery store lines, I hear discussions about the election, and what it means to have Virginia “in play.” The number of new registered voters in Virginia is record breaking.

With your encouragement and support the recount process was completed yesterday and the results have finally been certified. Although the campaign carried on well past Election Day, I felt strongly that I owed it to my supporters and all voters in the 37th to ensure that each and every vote was counted properly. Yesterday I released the following statement to the media: |
